Our client is looking for several play workers to help set up a new provision across Tameside, especially in hattersley and Hyde although there is provision for one session in Ashton. There are currently 8 sessions per week in four different locations across Tameside. The Play Worker jobs in Tameside are offered to enhance the life experiences of all children in the area between the ages of 8 and 11. You will be required to promote the personal, educational and social development of young people. The programmes aim to engage young people, redress inequalities, value opinions and empower individuals to take action on issues affecting their lives, including health, education and the environment, by developing positive skills and attitudes. Play workers will aim to help young people achieve the aims and outcomes of the government guidelines contained in Every Child Matters , which are that children and young people should:
be healthy; be safe; enjoy and achieve; make a positive contribution; achieve economic well-being.
Your role will vary greatly, but typical activities involve: Planning and administering community projects and resources; assessing the needs of young people, and planning and delivering programmes related to areas such as health, fitness, smoking, drugs, relationships and bullying in relation to their individual requirements and requests; running arts-based activities, community/environmental projects, residential activities, outdoor education and sporting activities; befriending and supporting individuals in various settings; mentoring and supporting individuals to encourage social inclusion; directing counselling support to individuals; Working as part of a team to include manager, co-ordinator and volunteers. undertaking administrative tasks, verifying information and responding to queries; meeting, liaising and networking with police, educational establishments and other agencies to address issues and promote opportunities for young people; working with parents and community groups to win support for improved provision and acting as an advocate for young people?s interests; identifying and pursuing sources of funding for projects to improve services and/or resources for young people;

Hours are between 3.45 and 6.15PM each day but happy to consider any days available. Rates are between £6 and £8 per hour dependant on the role. Volunteers will be paid expenses. Training is available.
